FAQ

Q.  My Epson Compatible Inkjet Cartridge will not print.  How do I get it to print?

A.  Be sure the sticker (usually yellow) on the top of the cartridge has been removed so that the cartridge has air supply then it can print.

Q.  My color cartridge does not print one of the colors, is missing a color, or prints very faint.  How do I get it to work properly?

A.  Sometimes, during transportation, the cartridge may have been laying on one side, causing the colors to mix, or the print head to dry out.  This happens with both brand new AND remanufactured inks.  The first thing to do is try to print 6-10 pages, using all the colors.  This may allow the missing colors to "kick in".  If this does not work, then try the following trick (which has a very good success rate success rate)

1.  Take the cartridge out of the printer.
2.  Place two paper towels on top of each other and fold them again so that you have a thick square piece.
3.  Slightly dampen one side of the paper towel, keeping the opposite side dry.
4.  Hold the cartridge with the print head facing down and "dab" it onto the wet portion of the paper towel, using SLIGHT force, for a second or two.
5.  Dab the cartridge onto the dry portion of the paper towel.
6.  Repeat steps 4-5 about five or six times, ending with step 5.
7.  If you have a 3-color cartridge, you should see a line of cyan, magenta, and yellow on the paper towel. If it is a black cartridge you should see a clear black line on the paper towel.
8.  Place the cartridge back in the printer and print a test page or two.

Q.  My cartridge JUST DOESN'T WORK.  I have tried everything and it just won't print.  What do I do?

A.  First, make sure the protective plastic cover has been taken off the print head.  (Some cartridges have a protective label that needs to be peeled.)  If you have done this and the cartridge still does not work, it is possible you may have received a defective cartridge.  Although our cartridges are put through STRICT quality control, sometimes they may get damaged internally during shipping.  Please contact our customer service representatives at 317-209-1818.

Q.  My Compatible or Remanufactured Toner Cartridge is in the printer but won't print or prints light?

A.  Most toners are provided with a removable strip to protect the drum during shipping, be sure that this strip has been fully removed by pulling out the tab on one end (usually the right side) of the cartridge then insert the cartridge into the printer.

Q.   Why is my printer printing so slowly?

A.  The easiest way to speed up your printer is to lower the output quality for things that don’t need to look professional. Draft mode is a very economical way of getting enough quality without wasting ink. If your printer comes with the option of adding additional RAM, you could do that as well.

Q.  Why are my prints light, spotty, or have horizontal lines?

A.  The cause of this problem is more than likely clogged or dirty print heads. One option is to run your printer’s cleaning cycle if it has one. After that you can print a test page and see if the results are improved.

Q.  Why is my printer telling me that my ink cartridges are empty?

A.  Treat messages about being out of ink like a grain of sand. In actuality, some of the sensors in the cartridges are manufactured to “sound the alarm” before it is completely out.  Also, it is impossible to reset the ink sensor in the ink cartridges on most remanufactured ink cartridges.  Just remember that you are saving lots of money by using remanufactured ink cartridges and this is the something that we just have to deal with.

Q.  Grandma called and wants me to fix her "broken" printer. I'm no tech guru. What should I do?”

A.  There are three simple steps even a non-technical person should be able to manage. First, check and make sure the printer is actually plugged into the wall, or if it’s plugged into a surge protector, make sure that is plugged into the wall. Second, make sure there is paper in the tray and that it is put in correctly. Finally, check the cable that connects to your printer either USB or Ethernet and ensure that both ends are plugged in where they are supposed to be.

Q.  Do I need to buy name-brand replacement ink cartridges?

A.  No way!  Name brand replacements are often twice or three-times more expensive than compatible or remanufactured ink cartridges.  And that’s not it.  Compatible and remanufactured ink cartridges are of equal or better quality than name-brand replacements.

Remanufactured printer cartridges are completely cleaned and refilled with premium ink.  Compatible cartridges are built just like name brand cartridges and filled with similar ink.  Printer manufacturers “recommend” that you buy their replacement ink simply because they rely on cartridge sales for survival.  Don’t be apprehensive about buying remanufactured or compatible ink cartridges.  They really are just as good – and you’ll save yourself 30-60% every time your ink runs out.

Q.  Why won’t my Canon printer print after installing a remanufactured or refilled ink cartridge?

A.  Canon has software inside the printer that recognizes when a non-Canon cartridge is installed.  This software requires the user of the printer to hold down the stop/reset or the resume button for 5 seconds per cartridge that is non-Canon.  Many people have the same problem, but stay calm, you can do it.  We are here for you if you need any help.  Call us at 317-209-1818 for assistance if necessary.

Q.  Will a remanufactured, compatible, or refilled cartridge void my printer warranty?

A.  On many ink cartridge boxes and printer packaging consumers are recommended to stick within the same brand. In today’s climate of consumer deception, there is a common misconception that this recommendation means that if you use remanufactured ink cartridges that your printers warranty will be void. This misconception leads consumers to doubt wholesale purchasing and feel required to buy ink cartridges consistent with their printer brand. However, within the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act there is a rule that states: “No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumer's using, in connection with such product, any article or service (other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade or corporate name” (15 U.S.C.A. 2302). While you may receive a warning on your computer screen that the unidentified ink cartridge you are using may void your warranty, this is not true. Unless the product will not function correctly without a product or service provided by the manufacturer, it is illegal for the manufacturer to suggest that use of remanufactured ink cartridges will render your printer warranty void.

Q.  Why did my ink cartridge yield fewer pages than indicated on your web site?

A.  Many customers have questions about page yield. The page yield that is indicated on the web site would be for printing pages with approximately 5% ink coverage. This means that if you printed short memos and nothing else, you would get the full yield listed.
However, most people will print a variety of different documents so the yield will vary. If you’re printing loads of graphics, highly dense amounts of type, full pages or intricate photos, of course, your yield will go down. You can use the page counter on your printer or copier to see how many pages you have printed with one cartridge, or you can see how many reams of paper you go through before the cartridge empties. Those are two good ways to test the yield.

Q.  What does 5% page coverage look like?

A.
